Adding a news article I found to the roundup: The Kindness of Crowds

Couple thoughts on the article: (1) I've found yet another defense for the widespread use of CCTV cameras! Turns out they collect incredibly useful data for sociologists in an ethically usable manner. hooray science.
(2) I find myself curious how many studies of crowds (crowd-sourcing, Nash-style behavior modeling, etc.) have been applied to the internet? Because as far as I can tell, there are few ways to engage with / do something on the Internet without being part of at least one crowd, if not several. Now that I'm thinking on the subject, is cloud computing one application of this? Are there any other applications of social theory that can impact more directly on cyber-security?
